Emergency Preparedness

The Emergency Preparedness Program for long-term care providers is designed to take an all-hazards approach. The program focuses on education and collecting and developing information and tools to aid long-term care facilities with effective and efficient methods to plan for disaster. Each facility has the opportunity to participate in a regional medical surge coalition for their surrounding areas. This allows them to collaborate and learn with other entities and utilize the community resources in the event of a disaster or emergency. UHCA along side with these coalition performs and participates in facility and regional disaster preparedness exercises simulating events that could stop or displace their business. We feel Utah is on the forefront of Long-Term Care Emergency Preparedness. We encourage all facilities to frequently update and evaluate their disaster plan.
